Asmongold recently shared that he was contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation over a joke by another Twitch streamer involving a $30,000 bounty.

During a November 8 broadcast, a viewer alerted Asmongold to a clip in which a streamer allegedly placed a bounty on him. While the viewer noted that the responsible party had not been banned, Asmongold initially responded that the individual seemed to be "joking around."

After reflecting on the incident, he revealed, “The FBI actually contacted me about that.” However, after rewatching the clip, Asmongold decided against pressing charges, explaining, “She clearly was not talking about me, so I thought it was a waste of time.”

According to Asmongold, the joke was initially misinterpreted as targeting him, but the actual subject was former Blizzard developer Mark Kern, also known as Grummz. Streamer Denims had jokingly put a $30,000 bounty on Grummz, sparking considerable controversy.

Asmongold’s clarification eased concerns over the potential threat. He also referenced an earlier incident where streamer Toneman allegedly placed a $20,000 bounty on Grummz, which led to Toneman being banned from X (formerly Twitter). Asmongold explained, “She wasn’t talking about me, so that’s why I didn’t push it, even though it maybe could have been interpreted that way.”
