Call of Duty Came Close to a Halo Crossover, According to Report
Both franchises have enjoyed immense success, especially during the seventh console generation
A recent report from a Call of Duty outlet revealed that a collaboration between Activision's franchise and Halo was nearly realized earlier this year but ultimately fell through. While Call of Duty has embraced numerous crossovers, this potential partnership with the Halo universe would have been significant.
Both franchises have enjoyed immense success, especially during the seventh console generation. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) introduced crossover cosmetics, while Halo has focused primarily on Spartan armor. Sources indicate that Modern Warfare 3 could have featured Halo-themed cosmetics in its lineup.
Charlie Intel tweeted about the canceled collaboration, although the reasons for its failure are unclear. Given Activision's acquisition by Microsoft, the possibility of a future crossover remains viable, especially with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 set to launch later this month.
Activision plans to continue offering cosmetics beyond Black Ops 6, raising the chance of Master Chief appearing in the series. A Halo crossover could introduce unique game modes and weapons, and elements from Call of Duty could also make their way into Halo Infinite.
Confirmed collaborations for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 include partnerships with Little Caesars and Monster Energy, leaving fans hopeful that the Halo crossover might eventually come to fruition.
