Dr Disrespect Blames "Woke Mind Virus" for 2020 Twitch Ban in Latest YouTube Stream

Dr Disrespect has once again stirred controversy, this time commenting on his 2020 Twitch ban during a recent YouTube stream. In a heated conversation, Dr Disrespect, real name Guy Beahm, attributed his ban to what he described as a “woke mind virus” controlling Twitch’s operations.

Beahm pointed to the platform being “run by a particular ideology,” which, according to him, led to his permanent ban following allegations of sending inappropriate messages to a minor—a claim he has admitted to but denied having any malicious intent behind.

His comments came the day after the US Presidential election, in which he discussed the importance of voting, especially from a personal perspective. Dr Disrespect also took the opportunity to reference his 2018 controversy, when he faced accusations of racism due to his impressions of a Chinese accent.

He claimed that clips of his stream were taken out of context by Jimmy Wong, a move that led to public backlash and pressure from his sponsors and Twitch.

Despite these ongoing controversies, Dr Disrespect’s return to streaming on YouTube has been met with great success. In October 2024, he was the second most-watched streamer on the platform, only behind IShowSpeed.

The rise in viewership highlights that his fan base remains loyal despite his tumultuous history on Twitch.
