FaZe’s Plaqueboymax Sparks Debate Claiming Streaming Is “Harder” Than 9-5 Jobs

The internet reacts as Plaqueboymax compares the pressures of streaming to traditional 9-5 jobs.

FaZe Clan member Plaqueboymax is stirring controversy after comparing the demands of streaming to the daily grind of a 9-5 job.

During a November 4 broadcast, he asserted that while physical labor and daily routines of traditional jobs are difficult, streaming comes with a unique mental strain. He emphasized that being a public figure online can be psychologically taxing due to the constant scrutiny and criticisms from thousands of viewers.

“Being a streamer, or any face on the internet, is harder than a 9-5 in certain ways because it f*cks you up mentally,” he explained. “No human brain should be able to tolerate that.”

The comment sparked a wave of responses, with some users supporting Plaqueboymax’s perspective on streaming’s mental toll, while others criticized it as detached from the struggles faced by those in traditional jobs. Streamer Chris Ray Gun chimed in, tweeting, “Content creation is not as easy as you’d assume, but STREAMING is SPECIFICALLY the easiest sh*t ever.”

Others were less forgiving, with one commenter writing, “Yeah, go to a McDonald’s drive through with your Lamborghini and tell them that your job is harder than theirs.”

While Plaqueboymax’s remarks drew divided responses, he’s far from the first streamer to make such a comparison. Earlier in 2024, Twitch’s Hasan faced backlash for claiming that streaming can be more soul-draining than a traditional job, a sentiment that FaZe Lacy echoed later, calling the social skills required for streaming “harder than an actual job.”

As streaming grows in popularity, the debate over its pressures versus traditional jobs continues, highlighting the unique challenges that come with a life online.
