Kick Co-Founder Says Dr. Disrespect's Streaming Deal Would Be a "Waste of Money"

Eddie emphasized the importance of evaluating potential partnerships from a business perspective

Rod “Slasher” Breslau recently questioned Kick co-founder Edward “Eddie” Kraven about the potential for signing Dr Disrespect to their platform. Despite Dr Disrespect's substantial viewership on YouTube, Eddie expressed skepticism about the financial viability of such a deal, suggesting it would be a poor business move for Kick.

When asked about Dr Disrespect, Eddie was clear: “Making a deal with Dr Disrespect... would make zero sense.” He elaborated that while signing the creator might lead to a temporary spike in viewership, it could ultimately harm Kick's reputation and be a waste of resources. Eddie emphasized the importance of evaluating potential partnerships from a business perspective rather than getting caught up in drama.

Despite the allure of immediate growth, Eddie believes that a long-term strategy is more beneficial for Kick. He highlighted that Dr Disrespect, currently unmonetized on YouTube, might be incentivized to stream elsewhere but concluded that signing him wouldn’t align with Kick’s goals.

Kick has also recently tightened its policies regarding bans, taking action against streamers for inappropriate behavior. For instance, they banned Jack Doherty after he crashed a car on stream while distracted, along with another streamer who harassed creators at TwitchCon. These actions signal Kick's commitment to creating a safer streaming environment.
