Mark Rober, the popular YouTuber and former NASA engineer, has expressed frustration with the dating app Hinge after his profile was removed multiple times for allegedly impersonating himself. Rober, known for his engaging scientific content, took to X (formerly Twitter) on September 15th, 2024, to voice his discontent with the app's handling of the situation.
Hey @hinge, for the second time now you have banned and deleted my account for *checks notes*… ah yes, impersonating Mark Rober. I’ve twice provided proof of identity and reaching out to your help desk is met with no response. Not sure where to go from here :/

Rober, who has built a substantial following on YouTube with nearly 60 million subscribers, highlighted his ongoing issue with Hinge in a viral post. “Hey Hinge, for the second time now you have banned and deleted my account for checks notes… ah yes, impersonating Mark Rober,” he wrote. Rober further noted that despite providing proof of his identity, his attempts to resolve the issue with Hinge’s support team have been met with silence.
The situation has raised eyebrows among Rober’s fans and other social media users, many of whom are questioning why a high-profile figure like Rober would be using a dating app. Rober clarified that he generally keeps his personal life private for security reasons but shared that he has been divorced for approximately three and a half years. “For the sake of clarity, I generally keep my personal life pretty private for my own protection and those close to me. But yeah it’s been 3.5 years since the divorce where I haven’t worn a wedding ring in any videos,” he explained.
As of now, Hinge has not issued a public response to Rober’s complaints. The issue has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with users making light of the situation and expressing sympathy. Twitch star Pokimane chimed in, noting that Rober’s experience is “unfortunately relatable” given her own challenges with dating apps.
