Mike Tyson Shares Troubling Health Update Ahead of Fight with Jake Paul
Mike Tyson struggles with mobility ahead of November fight, despite confidence in recovery
Mike Tyson, who is set to face Jake Paul on November 15, has revealed he's struggling with mobility, saying it's "hard to walk" at the moment. Tyson, 58, has faced several health setbacks, including a recent ulcer flare-up that forced him to postpone the original fight date from July 20.
Despite expressing confidence in his ability to be ready for the fight, Tyson admitted that he's currently experiencing significant discomfort. Speaking as a commentator at the Cage Wars event on September 13, Tyson acknowledged his ongoing challenges but reassured fans he plans to be in top shape by fight night. "It’s hard to walk right now. But two months from now I’m going to be perfect,” Tyson said.
Tyson has been preparing for the bout with Jake Paul by sparring and intensifying his training regimen, emphasizing that success in boxing is forged in the gym. Although the fight is scheduled for eight rounds of two minutes each, Jake Paul had proposed extending it to ten rounds of three minutes. As of now, the original format remains unchanged.
Concerns about Tyson's health have led to more stringent testing by organizers, including Netflix. This testing will occur on November 14, just one day before the fight, raising potential uncertainties about the event's status. Despite these concerns, Jake Paul has yet to secure a backup fighter and remains optimistic that the bout will proceed as planned.
