MrBeast, the YouTube sensation, has faced criticism after sharing engagement photos with his fiancée, Thea Booysen, where her family was seen wearing his branded merch. The moment sparked backlash, with some viewers calling it “creepy” or accusing him of using the occasion for more promotional material. The YouTuber, known for his larger-than-life stunts and massive social media presence, responded bluntly to the criticism.
The criticism began with YouTuber J Aubrey, who pointed out the oddity of everyone in the photos wearing MrBeast-branded sweaters. Many fans followed suit, calling the display “corporate” or “soulless,” questioning whether it was a genuine engagement moment or just another marketing opportunity.

In response, MrBeast explained on X that the decision to have everyone wear his merch was due to cold weather and the availability of Christmas sweaters. Despite his explanation, some users remained skeptical, pointing out that, while the family members wore the sweaters, they were also barefoot—casting doubt on the validity of the “cold weather” excuse.
