TikTok, one of the world’s most popular social media platforms, faces a looming U.S. ban as tensions over its ownership intensify. Following President Joe Biden's April 2024 bill requiring ByteDance to sell the platform or face restrictions, the app is set to be removed from app stores and shut down on January 19, 2025, unless a buyer steps in.

Among the potential saviors is Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as MrBeast, who jokingly tweeted, “Okay fine, I’ll buy TikTok so it doesn’t get banned.” His post quickly gained traction, with fans voicing their support.

Fans rallied behind the YouTube megastar, with some even suggesting he’d make a better owner than Elon Musk or Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary.

While MrBeast’s post was likely in jest, the platform’s estimated $50 billion valuation makes the idea far-fetched, even for one of YouTube’s wealthiest creators. Still, the reaction underscores the public’s desire for a resolution as TikTok’s future hangs in the balance.
