With TikTok potentially being banned in the United States on January 19, 2025, popular Twitch streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has become a vocal advocate for RedNote, also known as Xiaohongshu.
TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, has yet to agree to U.S. demands to sell its shares, leaving the platform’s future uncertain. In response, users and creators are exploring alternatives, and RedNote has risen to prominence, topping Apple’s App Store charts.
Pokimane, who has diversified her content across platforms like YouTube and Instagram, took to Twitter to praise RedNote, describing it as “a better version of Pinterest.” She also revealed her handle on the app, where she’s already amassed 1.9K followers and started posting videos with Chinese subtitles to reach an international audience.
it’s about time people got on the xiahongshu/red book wave, that app has been a better version of pinterest for years lol
