In an unexpected twist to celebrate Lunar New Year

In a celebration of the Lunar New Year, Starbucks has introduced a distinctive addition to its menu in China – the pork-flavored latte.

This special creation, featuring a delicate slice of pork as a garnish, aims to blend elements of traditional New Year customs with the familiar comfort of coffee. By infusing espresso with the unique "Dongo pork" sauce, Starbucks promises an intriguing combination of flavors that evoke both sweetness and savoriness.

In a post on Weibo, the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Shanghai highlighted the cultural significance of the drink, noting that enjoying meat is often associated with prosperity and good fortune in the coming year.

This innovative fusion of a classic latte with the essence of braised pork captures the essence of the Chinese New Year season, a time of celebration and reflection across Asia.

While opinions on the new beverage vary among Weibo users, with some expressing curiosity about the flavor pairing and others finding comfort in the familiar tradition of Lunar New Year cuisine, there has been discussion about the pricing of the limited edition drink, priced at approximately 68 yuan, equivalent to around $9.90 USD.

This savory sip is exclusively available in China. So, what do you say? Would you give it a try? We’re unsure on it ourselves, however, it may be nice - You never know until you try it.
