Trainwrecks Claims Twitch Targeted Him with Ban During Rust Event

Trainwrecks accuses Twitch of unfairly banning him amid a major Rust event, citing the platform’s enforcement of spam rules for promoting Kick.

TrainwrecksTV, a prominent streamer, found himself in hot water with Twitch after being slapped with a 3-day ban while hosting a major Rust event.

The event, running from November 8 to 18, featured a high-stakes competition for a rare AK-47 skin valued at over a million dollars, attracting massive attention. However, the ban, which Twitch cited as “user spam,” quickly derailed the event and put it on pause.

Twitch’s official communication to Trainwrecks indicated that the ban stemmed from promoting Kick, the streaming platform he’s been broadcasting on alongside Twitch. Specifically, Twitch took issue with Trainwrecks mentioning or linking to Kick through his stream overlays, titles, and go-live notifications.

The platform’s rules prohibit directing users to external services during a live stream, and Trainwrecks' frequent references to his Kick username were flagged as violations.

On his Kick stream, Trainwrecks expressed frustration, claiming that the ban was “targeted” and that Twitch had intentionally timed it to disrupt his event. He pointed out that he had been streaming as the second most-watched creator for 16 hours straight before the ban hit.

His suspicions of unfair treatment were fueled by the fact that similar practices, like those from streamers such as xQc, who also stream across both platforms, have not led to bans in the same manner.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions between Twitch and creators who explore alternative platforms like Kick. With Twitch's inconsistent ban enforcement and strict content rules, the situation has sparked conversations about the platform’s treatment of its biggest creators and whether its policies are applied evenly across the board.

For now, Trainwrecks' event has been paused, leaving fans questioning how platforms will handle cross-platform promotions moving forward.
