According to Valkyrae, the incident occurred while she was filming a cameo appearance for the movie. Although specific details about her role or the situation weren't provided, she claimed that Momoa became visibly angry with the crew over shot preparations, creating an uncomfortable work environment. She noted that the emotional intensity of the scene might have contributed to his actions, but nonetheless found his behavior unacceptable.

Momoa portrays Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison in the film, which boasts a star-studded cast, including Jack Black, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Jennifer Coolidge. Despite the high-profile names, A Minecraft Movie has faced criticism from fans, particularly after the release of its trailer. The film, set to hit theaters on April 5th, 2025, has been divisive, with fans reacting negatively to some elements, such as Jack Black’s singing in the adaptation.

Momoa has yet to address Valkyrae's claims.
