In a recent appearance on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast, popular streamer xQc, also known as Felix Lengyel, opened up about his co-ownership role with the streaming platform Kick. He revealed that he, along with other platform leaders, pushed for stricter content guidelines to address dangerous and controversial streams.

Since its inception as a Twitch alternative, Kick has attracted top talent, including xQc, Amouranth, and GM Hikaru, but it has also faced criticism for lenient moderation. In the platform's early days, some streamers took advantage of this lax approach, producing content that frequently crossed boundaries. Incidents included high-risk stunts, such as a hit-and-run involving controversial streamer N3on and New York street racer Squeeze Benz, and dangerous live-streamed driving events.

However, according to xQc, he and other co-owners had a round table discussion with Kick’s leadership about six months ago to demand action. “We put our foot down and said, ‘This cannot fly anymore,’” he said, adding that his co-ownership stake gave him both the platform and the incentive to advocate for these changes. His $100 million contract with Kick included equity, allowing him a direct say in the platform's direction.

Kick’s CEO, Edward Craven, reportedly understood the need for change. Since implementing stricter moderation policies, Kick has actively cracked down on extreme content, recently issuing bans to streamers like Jack Doherty and permanently removing Fousey for content that crossed ethical lines. xQc mentioned that, although some controversial clips continue to surface, the platform has avoided major incidents in recent months, signaling progress toward a safer streaming experience.

This shift in Kick’s approach arrives as xQc considers his long-term future with the platform. Though he initially signed a high-value deal with Kick, he has hinted at uncertainty about his next steps once his contract concludes, leaving open questions about Kick’s evolution and his role in shaping it.
